Axel Lomholt is General Manger of STOXX Ltd., based in Zug, Switzerland. He was appointed CEO in November 2021 and has overall responsibility for the firm’s strategy, operations, and global business activities.

Before joining STOXX in 2021, Axel spent eight years at Vanguard, where he held a number of international leadership roles across London, Hong Kong and Shanghai. His responsibilities included Head of Product and Strategy for Asia, Interim CEO for Asia, Head of ETFs International (ex-US), and Head of Product International. He also served on several boards within the Vanguard group.

Earlier in his career, Axel was Managing Director at BlackRock / Barclays Global Investors (BGI), where he worked in product and capital markets roles within the iShares business. He previously held positions at Gulf International Bank and HSBC Global Asset Management, focusing on indexing, portfolio management, and derivatives.

Axel holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Reading and a BSc in Finance from Bayes Business School. He also completed the Global Leadership Executive Programme at Harvard Business School.
