Emily Spurling

Senior Vice President and Global Head of Index, Nasdaq

Emily Spurling is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Index for Nasdaq’s Investment Intelligence unit. In this role, she is responsible for driving the strategic direction and growth of the Index business, leading her team and expanding the business’ capabilities to service clients across the globe. She has served in several senior roles throughout her nine-year career at Nasdaq.

As Global Head of Index, she is responsible for leading the business, which includes more than 10,000 indexes calculated daily and more than 350 Exchange Trade Products (ETPs) tracking Nasdaq-branded indexes. The Nasdaq Composite Index® and the Nasdaq-100® Index are referenced millions of times daily as an indicator.

Before leading Nasdaq’s Global Index business, she was responsible for Strategy, Finance and Operations for all of Investment Intelligence. In the last six years, she helped develop the strategic direction for Investment Intelligence, bringing together Data, Index and Analytics solutions. She led the evaluation and integration of Nasdaq eVestment™, Quandl (now Nasdaq Data Link) and Nasdaq Solovis, three acquisitions for Investment Intelligence and core to the unit’s strategy to serve the investment community.

Emily has over 18 years of experience in financial services. Before joining Nasdaq, Emily worked in various private equity investing roles as well as in investment banking at JPMorgan.
 
Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
